One of the first youth rowing clubs in Georgia, AJRA is now over 200 rowers strong, the largest youth crew team in the state. AJRA has a professional coaching staff, a well-maintained fleet, and land training equipment housed in our own boathouse.
AJRA commands the respect of other youth and college teams at the biggest regattas in the country and annually qualifies boats for USRowing Youth Nationals. Additionally, AJRA is proud of its strong record of rowers recruited to prestigious universities.
Rowers of all levels can find a home with AJRA.
AJRA offers opportunities for athletes of all levels to row on the Chattahoochee River during every season of the year.
In the Fall season, rowers compete in Head Races, which are timed 3-5K events where boats have a staggered start and the fastest time wins. Spring brings Sprint Races, that are raced on a buoyed, 8-lane course either 1500 or 2000 meters. Boats line up and start at the same time, and the first to cross the finish line wins.
Rowers spend the winter season training and conditioning for the spring championship season. Practices involve indoor training on erg machines, weight training, and water training as weather allows.
The summer season kicks off with regional and national championship regattas for elite rowers. As the warm months progress, returning rowers focus on training and clubs everywhere introduce new rowers to the sport through camps and technique clinics.
